The camera and receiver were received on time, well packaged and in great condition.
I watched the YouTube videos of the Ranger+ and the Longshot app by Clay from Longshot. The video was well done, establishing a reliable link between the camera/receiver was straight forward. The video (find the long one that covers all of the menu options) quickly got me up and running.
I first tried the camera/receiver/app in the comfort of my own office. I taped a target to a wall and set the camera/receiver 12 ft back and established video with the Longshot app on my iPad. I used a magic marker to simulate bullet hits. One at a time, I drew a bullet hit and used the app to mark per instructions. When using the measure function, I entered 100 yards distance so that the MOA/MIL measures would readout just as if I was at a 100 yard range. The one time I got confused I was able to rewatch the YouTube video and correct my misunderstanding with out wasting range time.
First and second day at the range with the Ranger+ and iPad app went like I was a long time user.
What would I do different knowing what I know today when purchasing the Ranger+? I should of more seriously considered the 2 mile version. I highly recommend the Ranger+, it is about 1/3 the price of my spotting scope with over 2 times the distance capability. I often shoot targets well beyond 500 yards.
